The Duh Vin Chee Code
May 19, 2006
Thanks to Susan, of Friday Playdate, for confirming my thoughts on The Da Vinci Code. Hubby and I were planning on going to see it tonight, and I really do not want to go. First off, it looks boring as all hell. More importantly, I hate going to the theater. I mean $6 for a bottle of water, $12 for the show, and another $6 for popcorn? WTF!? There’s probably $0.04 cents worth of kernels in that bag, and it isn’t even butter on that shit. On top of getting your wallet raped, there’s the stiff chairs you have to sit UPRIGHT IN, and your feet are sticking to the floor. I don’t even WANT to know what is all over that floor. If I wanna watch a movie, I want to be lying horizontal on my CLEAN couch like a sloth, eating homemade popcorn, with real butter and the water? It’s free. Ish.
Plus if you stay home, you won’t get a tummyache from holding your farts in for two hours. So I’m told.

Those are the same reasons why we don’t go to the movie theater. We have a drive in close to us that costs $6 for adults, children under 12 are free (so it costs us $12 to go see a movie) We can take a cooler full of sodas and our own popcorn, and the kids think it is way more fun than the theater. No one to shush them if they want to ask a question, and they can move around as much as they want.

Yanno….I read the book..and although it was ok I just don’t see making it into a movie.
Dan Brownalso wrote Angels and Demons…which was a much better book…and would probably make a great movie.

Yeah, staying at home and drive ins are certainly more better then paying for expensive, crappy popcorn and watered down pop and sitting in chairs where people have done nasty things too (my friend sat in someones rag stain, it was nasty).

If I could just manage to get a giant screen at my house, I’d be all over the staying home for movies thing. But I love end-of-the-world, special effects driven films and they look like crap on my tv. Hubby says that they are indeed crap at the theatre too but I still love ‘em.

I love going to the movie theater. I like the popcorn, too. Movies at home are annoying because we have to wait until kids go to bed or be interupted a dozen times.

it totally sucks but i banned theatres. i miss them but have so far stuck to it.

I haven’t been to see a movie at a theater in more than 6 months. And that was an Imax, which is a bit better. I agree - it’s just too expensive.

In grad school, we used to go to a second-run theater where they had taken out ever other row of seats and put in little cafe tables–so you would have some place to PUT YOUR BEER. It was the greatest thing ever–they would open the theater an hour or so before the movie and we would sit and drink beer and eat REALLY BAD nachos and wait for Dances With Wolves to start.
Oh, and? The movie itself cost ONE DOLLAR, and I think there was some special on the beers once the movie started (because you had to leave the theater to go out to the bar in the lobby to get more beer). Why aren’t there more places like that? I might even see the Da Vinci Code for a dollar if there were beer. LOTS and LOTS of beer.
No, probably not.

I have nooooo desire to see that movie. We spent over $30 to see United Flight 93 between tickets, soda, water and small popcorn. RIDICULOUS!

I totally want to see that movie. And I just sneak my own snacks in. Muahahahahaha.

You didn’t even mention the bozos in the next row talking through the whole thing.

My home theatre system has paid for itself many times over.

We have a drive in that actually plays current movies. It’s just been so cold that we can’t sit outside in chairs. But I do love going to the theater, as long as it’s matinee or the 1.50 version.
Hunny Bunny loves the theater! He and Sam go all the time.
So, Karen, how was the Da Vinci Code?

And don’t you know a girlfriend asked me to go with her today to see it? The book was great, but I don’t even have to think twice about the fact that TOM HANKS was miscast in that role. I was so surprised to see them use him. It won’t be the same.
Luckily, I’ll have expensive BUTTER-LADEN popcorn to make me feel better. I’ll save the farts for Ken. I should be careful. It may turn him on and then he won’t be able to keep his hands off of me.
You crack me up. Don’t hold those flatulent babies in, girl. Let ‘em OUT.

I saw the DaVinci Code yesterday. And oh my gosh, it was sold out. There was going to be even a fight for a seat. Unbelievable. I totally agree that going to the movies is such a great expense.
But the DaVinci Code was worth it. I really liked it :o)

Another reason I don’t go to the movies!
I’ll wait for this one on DVD.
P.S.-You don’t have to hold your farts in, you can just let them rip. I mean, it IS pretty dark in there and all.

And what the heck is that advertisement that I just got after I commented? Strange…
May 20th, 2006 at 10:14 pm
why hold them in?? you’re in teh dark! plus, if anyone notices, you can just look at hubby and say “really, couldn’t you give us all a break?”
hahahahahahah

I can’t go to many movies, so this makes me feel very good right about now, rather than feeling sorry for myself.

I used to love going to the movies. Now though the theaters keep increasing the prices and yet the service is just as poor if not worse than ever. So we may only go once or twice a year, usually as a “Hey lets take the kids to the movies as a treat” or if the movie is just really great, ie Star Wars. With great dvd quality, widescreen tvs, surround sound, and netflix who needs the theaters?

Well…of course I dont like the book. I have yet to have finished it and I really HATE it. I think when you give people a little bit of truth they go way overboard sometimes. This book was sold as FICTION, people!! LOL!! Anyway, my point it…I wont be seeing it. I haven’t been to a theater in years, but I do need to get there because my husband, kids and my’s picture is playing before the movies for a ‘quit smoking’ campaign since my husband was the only father last year to successfully complete the stop smoking program at the local health dept. I on the other hand failed…my picture should be X-ed out!

I tried to go see the Da Vinci Code only cause the husband wanted to but it was sold out.
