Don’t Call Me Daughter
May 13, 2007
Alone…listless…breakfast table in an otherwise empty room
Young girl…violins…center of her own attention
The mother reads aloud child tries to understand it
Tries to make her proud
The shades go down it’s in her head
Painted room…can’t deny there’s something wrong…
Don’t call me daughter not fit to
The picture kept will remind me
Don’t call me daughter not fit to
The picture kept will remind me
Don’t call me…
She holds the hand that holds her down
She will…rise above
Don’t call me daughter, not fit to
The picture kept will remind me
Don’t call me daughter, not fit to be
The picture kept will remind me
Don’t call me…
The shades go down
The shades go, go, go…

I’m sorry that you didn’t get a good mom. I am also just so happy that you are breaking the cycle by being a good mom yourself. You deserve every happy mother’s day wish.

I can tell your future is brighter for your children, as this is what we can do even when you come from less than hoped for. I often tell my daughter, we cannot change the past however, we can surely brighten the future. Your children radiate happiness. Happy mothers day. Take a look at my blog grammology.com Just started 5 months ago and still don’t know much except how much I love my daughter and all seven of my grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Good luck Grammy…
