Better Than “Pour Some Sugar on Me.”

May 29, 2007

This is my new favorite site. I love mashups. And I cannot stop listening to this one. And no sooner did I post this, they post a sweet mashup of Kate Bush and Pet Shop Boys. *Sob.* So good. I spent last night sending this dork lots of music and he wants more.

Men.

Always. Wanting. More.

Kaiser sent me home with 6 CDs of stuff that I didn’t have and I’m still getting through it. Among the fray: Everclear (yum, remember them?), Pagans, …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Brainiac, The Decemberists, and his personal favorite (I think), Yo La Tengo.

Some of my favorite songs at the moment include (and look! I YouTube’d you up with videos where I could! WHO’S YER MAMA?):

The Rapture - Whoo! Alright - Yea…Uh Huh

Radio Birdman - Snake

Yo La Tengo - Can’t Seem To Make You Mine

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Hard to Concentrate (Oldest cousin is considering this for her first dance at her wedding!)

The Decemberists - July! July!

Gregory and The Hawk - Boats and Birds (this one makes me think of the boys growing up, made me cry in the car on my way up north.)

Portishead & Moloko - Fun for Me

Brainiac - Fucking with the Altimiter

Built to Spill - Cortez the Killer

Califone - The Orchids

Fujiya & Miyagi - Collarbone

What music are you loving these days?

and THAT….(built to spill COUGH COUGH!) is why I think you rock.

and i saw yo la tengo back in my college days.

i love it when people listen to cool music.

    how about some…

Sunny Day Real Estate (how it feels to be something on)

Built To Spill (Perfect from Now On)

Red House Painters (take your pick)

Andrew Bird (take your pick - even though my brother finds him horribly depressing. imagine what he’d think of red house painters…)

I’ve also seen Yo La Tengo live, and I agree about Built to Spill and Red House Painters. How about some Gomez? - Anything, but I started with Bring it On and have loved the new How We Operate. For some great mellow music, try any Iron & Wine.

The Legal Adult turned me on to the Decemberists. He went to see them in Texas last year.

I also like this guy named Ben Folds. Yet another L.A. conversion.

    And don’t forget the Format.

    Blog looks really good!

    love the new design!

I listen to podcasts of NPR shows. And CDs from my college a capella. I’m a dork who listens to oldies stations. And I loved Pour Some Sugar On Me as a teen - told you I was a dork. Though I adore Rachel Fuller, and she’s new.

But I may just have to go listen to the people you’re suggesting. you know, because you’re so cool.
