Holy Hannah Montana, you guys are all good guessers and one of you got all three guesses right! (I totally need to think of a prize for that person.)
The first of the 3 Major Things happening to the Sugarpants Family happened this afternoon.
Since November, we have been looking at getting an addition to the family. I’m proud to say that the male to female ratio in this house has been equalized. Ruffy and I were feeling a little outnumbered.
This was especially important to me, having lost my boys as Leafs fans, to my husband’s bribes. See, all my guys are Habs fans now. Dylan was brainwashed converted at 3 and I never had a shot with Thomas.
We’ve adopted a little girl.
She arrived this afternoon:
Meet Mylie (not to be confused with Miley Cyrus - though your guesses made me laugh):
“You want me to live with all these Habs fans? I’m scared!”
“Do I look like Hannah Montana?”
Mylie is a rescued dog. She was found wandering in the country and spent 2 weeks in the pound, where no one claimed her. The rescue charity adopted her into a foster home where she has been living for the last two weeks. After a thorough adoption process, we finally got to meet her today and all went well. Ruffy didn’t even try to eat her. They did the whole butt sniffing thing for an hour and after a quick trip to the lawn, they both fell asleep.
Mylie’s foster mom told me that Mylie loves to be snuggled up next to the laptop where the warm air blows out and she sleeps a lot. She thinks Mylie is between 8 and 12 months old, and that she is a mixed breed - definitely Jack Russell and possibly some Chi and/or Rat Terrier. She was spayed last week and her stitches come out in the next week or so. I’m also going to get the vet to look her over again and get her Kennel Cough shot.
This little sweetheart has obviously been through a lot. She was very skinny when the pound picked her up and needs to gain a few more pounds. She is 13 pounds now. She wouldn’t even eat dog food for the first three days she was at her foster home. Her foster mom had to mix wet and dry food and now has her weaned off the wet but I’ll still have to wet her food a bit with warm water until she’s finally on strictly dry kibble.
Ruffy has been exposed to lots of dogs and we often babysit her sisters or our friend’s dog from down the street. She seems to really like Mylie and Mylie already has flopped over to show her belly - kind of showing Ruffy that she knows Ruffy is the leader. They played together a lot this afternoon and wagged their tails so much I thought one of them would have liftoff. Mylie is house trained but I expect some regression and will be treating her like a puppy for the first week or so.

We’ve decided to keep her name the same to avoid confusion.
The entire Sugarpants Family is in a quandry though. We all have middle names, even Ruffy Doodle.

She is too cute, and she does look like she’s got some rat terrier in her (she has the same facial structure as our Fiona). Welcome to Mylie, and congrats to you!

You know what? A terrier TOTALLY fits your personality. I mean that to compliment both you and Mylie.
Also, that dog does not appear to me to have a drop of Chi-hoo-ah-hoo-ah or rat terrier in her, but when I first clicked over, before I read the post, I said to myself, “JRT/Smooth Fox Terrier mix.”

OK, now that I look again…that dog’s tail has been docked. Who would bother to dock tails on a mutt? Now my money is on either purebred Parson Russell Terrier or Smooth Fox Terrier.

Looks awfully purebred to me. The eye structure doesn’t say “Rat” to me at all and I’m not really seeing the Chihuahua thing except in the ears (maybe that’s where they’re seeing Rat?)
I’m the proud owner of 2 Jacks and my mom has 2 - great, fun dogs. One of her purebreds has those ears too.

Ya know my guesses were like a total wild thing…but so far (1/1) I was right!!! Could it be I am the one who got them all right? I need D to count your kids and see if one is missing.

She is a cutie!!! I always find the middle name comes as you get to know the dog and what they are like.
There is definitely no Chihauhau in there. With her docked tail and ears folding over, I would venture to say she is probably all JRT. We see a lot of them at our clinic and Smooth Fox Terrier’s are just not as common, not that it would be impossible, just highly unlikely:o)
