I’ve been walking for nearly two hours with Ruffy. It’s 11:28 p.m. here.
Mylie is gone. She got out of her collar when I walked her tonight and bolted. She is like a jackrabbit - fast as hell. She has no collar, nothing. I’m afraid she is gone for good.
She’s so little. I hope that someone kind finds her if she doesn’t come back.
Going to get in the car now. I hope she is okay.
UPDATE: It’s 2 a.m. She isn’t home. Will continue the search in the a.m. It’s futile to keep going alone tonight. I don’t feel safe being out there by myself.
UPDATE #2: It’s 11:30 Saturday night. We’re thinking there is a good chance that another family has her. She is such a sweet dog, I can only say hope that whoever found her is kind and patient. All avenues we tried today have led to dead ends.

oh no! Mylie come home!
Just in case, call every vet in the area tomorrow morning. Also call all shelters and rescues. Be sure to give a good description of her.

Oh Karen! I’m sorry! Like one of your commenters said, call the vets. and you can place a lost ad with most animal shelters. Also check with your local newspaper. Ours will let you place a free lost or found ad for a week. Hope you find her!

Oh no! Take my advice–this happened with our dog when we first moved to our town. We put flyers up EVERYWHERE. IN the end, a couple who owned another lab found her on a busy street and took her home. They had her for 48 hours looking for us and didn’t know until they saw our flyer at their workout club! We thought we’d never see our Molly again. If you have a neighborhood email list, I’d email that too. Tons of pets are found that way in our neighborhood. Good luck!

OMG, how heart-wrenching. I’m sure you will find her. Some nice person will pick her up and make a connection with you. I would also call the non-emergency number for the police department. If she is picked up tonight maybe they will try that avenue as well. Good luck and hang in there.

Oh, sick, sick feeling…I’m so sorry! Years ago my family had an “escape artist” mini poodle who would stay out all night and scare us to death. Once, it was below freezing, and he’d just been groomed so that he had NO hair. Turned out, a kind woman had taken him in, and we tracked him down the next day. I’m praying and hoping the same for you guys and Mylie.

Oh Karen, I’m so sorry. I hope you find her soon. When I showed my 8 year old the picture of Mylie she said, “can we go find her?” I told her you live in Canada and she said, “well we have a car, can’t we drive there and help her find the dog?”

Oh, I’m so sorry too!
As an owner of entirely too many “found” pets, I have to say that if she doesn’t make her way home, she could very well find herself in another loving environment.
But I know that doesn’t really do anything to settle your heart.
We’ve had one dog that bolted at every opportunity. He needed to run and had too much pent up energy NOT to run. Unfortunately, running meant running AWAY and we culdn’t contain him.
I have done those long walks. They are so irritating and frustrating and at the same time you feel so responsible.

Oh sweetie I can feel your pain in your words. And that beyond adorable picture.
I am sure that she is either with a loving family that are just trying to convince their kids that giving the purdy doggy back is the right thing to do or she has just been visiting, little social butterfly.
