The sale of sugar will be assured at Rs 90 per kg in the open markets of Punjab


GUJRANWALA: Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmad Ghumman said on Thursday that the availability of sugar would be assured at Rs 90 per kg in open markets, designated stores and Sahulat bazaars for residents of the division.

Speaking to reporters, the commissioner said strict action would be taken against those responsible for creating an artificial shortage, hoarding and overcharging for sugar.

He said the government had allocated 23,640 metric tonnes of imported sugar to the division, of which 10,817.05 metric tonnes of sugar had been sold so far. He said that out of the quota of 12,280 metric tonnes allocated to Gujranwala district, 3,458.25 tonnes of sugar had been sold. For Gujrat, out of 2,818 metric tons, 825.5 metric tons of sugar had been sold.

He said that in Mandi Bahauddin, out of 1,629 tons allocated, 433,750 tons of sugar were sold while for Sialkot out of 3,982 metric tons, 83 metric tons and for Hafizabad out of 1,183 metric tons, 49 metric tons had been sold. sold.

At Narowal, out of 1,748 metric tons, 574.2 metric tons of sugar had been sold. He said the district administration and price control magistrates had been given clear instructions to ensure easy availability of sugar at fixed rates.
